Food Marketing

I came across this article the other day;  
"When Homemade Doesn't Happen: The Best Frozen Meals"

This ridiculousness has to stop!  People are going to read the above article, eat the recommended foods, and think they are consuming healthy meals.  This article was written by "The Editors of WOMEN'S HEALTH".  Shame on them!  Telling the public these meal options are good, healthy choices is irresponsible. "WOMEN'S HEALTH" must raise their standards!  "WOMEN'S HEALTH" is supposed to be a HEALTH magazine.  They are supposed to promote HEALTH, not products.  It is this sort of ridiculous nutrition advice that is making our country obese. People think they are eating healthy when they are really increasing their risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Lets look at some of the so called "healthy" meal options highlighted in the article.

Smart Ones Morning Express French Toast with Turkey Sausage

Anything containing nitrates, corn syrup, xanthan gum, maltodextrin, caramel color, caramelized sugar syrup, etc. is not healthy!

Dewafelbakkers A+ Cinnamon All-Natural Sweet Potato Pancake
Ingredients:Whole Grain Spelt Flour, Whole Wheat Flour, Water, Corn Syrup, Sweet Potatoes, Sugar, Soybean Oil and/or Canola Oil, Fructan, Whey, Dried Egg Whites, Salt, Cinnamon, Soy Lecithin, Leavening (Calcium Acid Pyrophosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Xanthan Gum. Made with Bruce Foods Sweet Potatoes.
All natural?  Really?  This product contains corn syrup.  Do you know how corn syrup is made?  Watch the following video and tell me it's all natural!

Lesson Learned?
DON'T TRUST FOOD MARKETING!  Remember, companies are trying to sell a product.  I don't blame these companies for jumping through loopholes to make money.  I blame organizations such as "WOMEN'S HEALTH" for promoting food products instead of real, healthy, foods.

Just because something is low in calories, does not make it healthy!
